What is REIKI Share? |
|
You may have seen the notices for Reiki (pronounced Ray-key) shares, which we are doing here at Grace on a monthly basis starting in September. And you may have wondered, "So what is a Reiki share?". Well, here goes. A Reiki share is just that - an opportunity to share Reiki and thus, God's healing energy, with a group of people. Anyone can participate (we all can use a little jumpstart from God) and there's no charge for receiving a treatment. (Although we do accept offerings, which help to pay for additional equipment and scholarships.) As I've said in previous newsletters, Reiki is a touch therapy and works with "chi" - the same energy that is the focus of Chinese medicine. If you were to receive a treatment you would do so fully clothed, either lying on a massage table or sitting in a chair. Reiki practitioners (people who have taken a Reiki class and are "attuned") would place their hands on your stomach, your head, your back and any other parts of your body that can use a little boost. Treatments can last hours or just twenty minutes but most full body treatments last about an hour. The Episcopal Church has a long history of "laying on of hands". We hope to keep that tradition alive and well by offering this healing ministry to our congregation and community. If you have any additional questions, I would be happy to answer them. Just give me a call at (856) 627-3235. Cheryl Kuchler
