Special Lenten Opportunities
LENT IS
A
time for looking at the things we do that are wrong or that tempt us, asking God's
& other people's forgiveness; A time for giving
up things that keep us from being loving people; A
time for doing extra things that will help us grow closer to God; A
time to be more aware of what it means to love as God loves us; A
time to ask God to help us to be more loving, remembering that God is always ready
to strengthen us In addition to the

Lent is a special
time set aside in our Church calendar for self-examination. As Christians
we are invited to look at our lives and realize our shortcomings
and failings. As our Prayer of Confession says, "We have sinned
against you in thought, word and deed, by what we have done and
by what we have left undone." (BCP p. 360) Lent reminds us
of our need for God's forgiveness and grace.
During Lent,
we have the opportunity to change our lives. We strive to live more
closely to the teachings and example of Jesus Christ. We hear on
Sundays about the life of our Savior and see the sacrifice he makes
on our behalf on Good Friday. Lent is marked by our prayers, fasting,
charitable giving, Bible study and other acts of devotion. It is
a time for us to amend out lives, repair broken relationships and
become the people God calls us to become.
Grace Church
offers the programs and activates listed in this pamphlet as some
of the ways we may keep a Holy Lent. Come join us wherever and whenever
you can.
God bless
you and keep you.
- With warmest
regards, I remain,
- Faithfully yours
in Christ
